Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and accounts for various transactions, ensuring data integrity.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other GL accounts.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, for management review.
  • Ensure strict compliance with company financial policies, international accounting standards (IFRS), and relevant local tax regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed budgets and financial forecasts, monitoring variances and reporting on performance.
  • Process invoices, expense reports, and other financial documents accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal and external auditors during financial audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Provide critical support for month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate closures.
  • Analyze financial discrepancies and irregularities, thoroughly investigating and resolving issues promptly.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of all financial information and uphold the highest ethical standards in all dealings.
  • Actively contribute to process improvements within the finance department to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience of at least two years as an Account Officer or in a similar financial accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (IFRS).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage, or similar ERP systems) and advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all financial documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to articulate financial information clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a closely related field.
  • Professional qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA) or actively pursuing one.
  • Experience working in a large manufacturing or diversified conglomerate environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and regulatory compliance requirements.
