As a Maintenance Technician with Dangote Cement, you will play a pivotal role in the continuous operation of our world-class cement production facilities. You will be responsible for the preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance of a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on plant machinery and equipment, including conveyors, crushers, kilns, mills, and packaging machines.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Execute corrective maintenance and emergency repairs promptly to minimize production downtime.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics for troubleshooting and repair.
  • Conduct predictive maintenance activities, including vibration analysis and thermography, to identify potential failures.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment performance.
  • Collaborate with production teams and other departments to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the installation and commissioning of new equipment as required.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians when applicable.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in a heavy industrial setting (cement, mining, steel, oil & gas).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with expertise in hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating machinery.
  • Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, motor control, and industrial wiring.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety procedures and practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • Professional certification in maintenance or a related technical field.
  • Experience with PLC programming and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, thermography).
  • Prior experience in a cement manufacturing plant.
