Job Description
Dana Air is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Full-Time Flight Dispatcher to join our dynamic operations team in Efiat Offot, Uyo. As a Flight Dispatcher, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance of all Dana Air flights. This critical position involves meticulous planning, constant monitoring, and proactive decision-making, working in close collaboration with flight crews, air traffic control, and ground operations. You will be responsible for preparing and dispatching flights, considering critical factors such as weather conditions, aircraft performance, fuel requirements, NOTAMs, and air traffic control restrictions. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, sign, and issue flight release clearances for all Dana Air flights, ensuring compliance with company policies and NCAA regulations.
- Analyze weather conditions, NOTAMs, and operational information to determine optimal flight routes, altitudes, and fuel requirements.
- Collaborate closely with pilots to develop comprehensive flight plans, considering aircraft performance, payload, and regulatory limitations.
- Monitor the progress of flights in real-time, providing crews with critical updates on weather, airspace, and operational changes.
- Coordinate with Air Traffic Control (ATC), ground operations, and maintenance personnel to ensure seamless flight execution.
- Calculate and verify fuel loads for each flight, ensuring sufficient fuel for planned routes, diversions, and reserves.
- Assist flight crews in decision-making during irregular operations, including diversions, delays, and emergencies.
- Maintain accurate and detailed flight records and operational logs.
- Participate in emergency response coordination as required.
- Stay updated with aviation regulations, company procedures, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Valid Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Flight Dispatcher Certificate/License or equivalent.
- Proficiency in flight planning software and systems.
- Excellent understanding of aviation meteorology and its impact on flight operations.
- Strong knowledge of air traffic regulations, operational procedures, and aircraft performance.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aeronautical Science, or a related field.
- Experience dispatching specific aircraft types operated by Dana Air (e.g., MD-83, Boeing 737).
- Additional aviation certifications or licenses (e.g., Private Pilot License).
- Familiarity with IATA operational safety audit (IOSA) standards.
