As a Cybersecurity Analyst – Data Protection, you will be at the forefront of identifying, analyzing, and mitigating data-related security risks across our entire technological infrastructure. Your expertise will be crucial in developing, implementing, and enforcing robust data protection policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to both local and international data privacy regulations, such as GDPR principles and national data protection laws applicable in the DRC. You will work closely with various departments, including IT operations, legal, and compliance, to integrate data protection best practices into all business processes and new system developments.

This role involves conducting comprehensive data classification, data loss prevention (DLP) system management, and regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities and ensure the continuous protection of our sensitive information. You will be responsible for responding to security incidents involving data breaches, performing root cause analyses, and recommending corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. Beyond technical implementation, a key aspect of this role is fostering a security-aware culture within the organization through training and awareness programs related to data handling and privacy. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, standards, and guidelines in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Administer and optimize Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions to monitor and prevent unauthorized disclosure or exfiltration of sensitive data.
  • Conduct data classification exercises to identify and categorize sensitive information across various systems and databases.
  • Perform regular security assessments and audits focused on data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
  • Respond to data-related security incidents, including investigation, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident analysis.
  • Collaborate with IT, legal, and compliance teams to ensure data privacy and protection requirements are integrated into new projects and systems.
  • Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for data protection-related alerts and anomalies.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on data encryption, access controls, and other data security technologies.
  • Develop and deliver cybersecurity awareness training programs for employees, with a focus on data handling and privacy.
  • Stay abreast of emerging data protection threats, technologies, and regulatory changes to proactively enhance TMB's security posture.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in cybersecurity, with a strong focus on data protection and privacy.
  • In-depth knowledge of data protection frameworks and regulations (e.g., GDPR principles, local data privacy laws).
  • Proficiency with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies and concepts.
  • Strong understanding of network security, endpoint security, and cloud security principles.
  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
  • Familiarity with data encryption techniques and access control mechanisms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Fluency in English and French (written and spoken) is highly desirable due to the operational context.
