Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis of corporate and institutional clients, including cash flow projections, balance sheet reviews, and income statement assessments, to evaluate credit risk.
  • Prepare detailed credit proposals and recommendations for new credit facilities, renewals, and amendments, ensuring alignment with Barclays' credit policies and risk appetite.
  • Monitor client portfolios on an ongoing basis, identifying potential credit deterioration and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Engage with Relationship Managers and clients to gather necessary financial information and clarify credit-related queries, building strong professional relationships.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk, providing insights to senior management.
  • Participate in credit committee meetings, confidently presenting analysis and defending recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Ensure all credit documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with internal and external regulations, upholding the highest standards of governance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of credit analysis tools, processes, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Credit Analyst, Financial Analyst, or similar role within a financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and credit risk assessment methodologies.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and analytical tools (e.g., advanced Excel, financial databases).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and persuasively.
  • High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities effectively under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a closely related quantitative field.

  • Experience with credit rating agencies' methodologies and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of specific regulatory frameworks relevant to banking in the UK (e.g., PRA, FCA).
  • Experience with large corporate or institutional clients in a global banking context.
