Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a company-provided van for the pickup and delivery of packages and documents.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on the vehicle, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Efficiently plan and execute daily routes to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Utilize handheld scanners to accurately record shipment information, including delivery confirmation and exceptions.
- Provide exceptional customer service, interacting professionally with clients at each stop.
- Handle packages with care, ensuring their integrity and security during transit.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal driving regulations and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and team members regarding route progress or issues.
- Assist with loading and unloading packages as required, ensuring proper weight distribution.
- Maintain a clean and organized company vehicle.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and move packages weighing up to 70 pounds, and maneuver heavier items with appropriate equipment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of local geography and ability to use GPS/navigation systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1+ year) as a courier or delivery driver in a professional setting.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety standards.
