FedEx is seeking dedicated Courier Drivers in Ipswich, England, to join our team as an owner-operator. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient collection and delivery of parcels and freight throughout the Ipswich area and surrounding routes. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently collect and deliver a variety of parcels and freight to residential and business customers within the designated Ipswich area.
- Manage daily routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries and collections.
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring items are secured and handled with care.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork and electronic scanning procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanour at all times.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and driving regulations.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks and ensure your owner vehicle meets all legal and operational requirements.
- Communicate effectively with depot staff and customers regarding delivery status or issues.
Required Skills
- Valid UK driving licence (Category B minimum) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Proven experience in multi-drop delivery or courier services (2+ years).
- Ownership of a suitable commercial vehicle (e.g., LWB Sprinter van or similar) that meets operational requirements and is insured for commercial use.
- Excellent knowledge of the Ipswich area and surrounding routes.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to lift and carry parcels of varying weights and sizes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A self-motivated, reliable, and professional approach to work.
- Right to work in the UK.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using handheld scanning devices and delivery management software.
- Previous experience as a self-employed courier or owner-driver.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
