Job Description
Costco Wholesale Corporation in Vancouver, British Columbia, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. This is an immediate start opportunity for an individual who is safety-conscious, efficient, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced retail distribution environment. As a Forklift Operator, you will be a critical part of our logistics operation, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of merchandise throughout our large-scale warehouse. Your primary duties will include operating various types of powered industrial trucks, such as stand-up, reach, and counter-balance forklifts, to unload, load, move, stack, and stage products and materials. This role is essential to maintaining our high standards of inventory management and ensuring products are readily available for our members.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., stand-up, reach, counter-balance) safely and efficiently to move, stack, load, and unload merchandise.
- Perform daily pre-operational safety checks on forklifts and other power equipment, reporting any issues or maintenance needs immediately.
- Transport products and materials to and from designated areas, including storage, shipping, and receiving docks.
- Ensure accurate inventory placement and rotation, assisting with inventory counts and organization as required.
- Load and unload trailers and delivery vehicles, verifying accuracy of shipments against manifests.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations for powered industrial trucks.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including aisles, storage areas, and equipment.
- Assist with manual loading, unloading, and stocking of merchandise as needed, utilizing proper lifting techniques.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
- Identify and report any damaged goods or equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.
Required Skills
- Valid Forklift Operator certification for various equipment types (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck)
- Minimum of 1 year of recent, verifiable experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Strong understanding and commitment to warehouse safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Basic math and reading skills to interpret labels, manifests, and safety instructions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Previous experience in a large retail, wholesale, or grocery distribution environment.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic scanning equipment.
- Experience with other warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks or order pickers.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
