Job Description

Costco Wholesale Corporation in Vancouver, British Columbia, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Forklift Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. This is an immediate start opportunity for an individual who is safety-conscious, efficient, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced retail distribution environment. As a Forklift Operator, you will be a critical part of our logistics operation, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of merchandise throughout our large-scale warehouse. Your primary duties will include operating various types of powered industrial trucks, such as stand-up, reach, and counter-balance forklifts, to unload, load, move, stack, and stage products and materials. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., stand-up, reach, counter-balance) safely and efficiently to move, stack, load, and unload merchandise.
  • Perform daily pre-operational safety checks on forklifts and other power equipment, reporting any issues or maintenance needs immediately.
  • Transport products and materials to and from designated areas, including storage, shipping, and receiving docks.
  • Ensure accurate inventory placement and rotation, assisting with inventory counts and organization as required.
  • Load and unload trailers and delivery vehicles, verifying accuracy of shipments against manifests.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial regulations for powered industrial trucks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including aisles, storage areas, and equipment.
  • Assist with manual loading, unloading, and stocking of merchandise as needed, utilizing proper lifting techniques.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Identify and report any damaged goods or equipment malfunctions in a timely manner.

Required Skills

  • Valid Forklift Operator certification for various equipment types (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck)
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent, verifiable experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution setting.
  • Strong understanding and commitment to warehouse safety protocols and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Basic math and reading skills to interpret labels, manifests, and safety instructions.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Previous experience in a large retail, wholesale, or grocery distribution environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic scanning equipment.
  • Experience with other warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks or order pickers.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
