Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled tradespeople, including carpenters, masons, and equipment operators, with various tasks on site.
  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment by sweeping, removing debris, and disposing of waste materials.
  • Perform general site preparation and finishing duties, such as digging trenches, backfilling excavations, and compacting earth.
  • Operate a variety of basic hand and power tools under supervision, adhering to all safety guidelines.
  • Erect and dismantle temporary structures like scaffolding, barricades, and shoring as directed.
  • Follow all company safety protocols, site regulations, and provincial health and safety standards.
  • Assist with the setup and take-down of job site equipment and temporary facilities.
  • Support equipment operators by spotting, flagging, and ensuring clear communication during operations.
  • Perform other labourer duties as assigned by the site supervisor or foreman.

Required Skills

  • Proven physical stamina and strength to perform demanding tasks.
  • Ability to understand and follow both verbal and written instructions effectively.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety practices and the importance of PPE.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.).
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Previous experience in a construction, landscaping, or similar outdoor labourer role.
  • Valid G Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Valid WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) certification.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
