Key Responsibilities
- Perform general labour duties at construction sites, including site clean-up, material handling, and tool organization.
- Assist skilled tradespersons (e.g., carpenters, equipment operators, pipefitters) with various tasks as directed.
- Load and unload construction materials, tools, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively under supervision (e.g., shovels, rakes, jackhammers, plate compactors).
- Prepare and clean work areas, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
- Assist in the setup and dismantle of temporary structures, scaffolding, and safety barriers.
- Support excavation activities, including digging, trenching, and backfilling.
- Help with the pouring, spreading, and finishing of concrete and asphalt.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and participate in daily safety briefings.
- Report any unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to a supervisor.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and techniques.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical labour, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of English for communication and safety instructions.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license (an asset but not required for initial consideration).
