Job Description
Julius Berger Nigeria Plc is actively seeking dedicated and hardworking Construction Labourers, both manual and skilled, to join our dynamic project team in Rumueme, Port Harcourt. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to contribute to significant infrastructure development projects. As a Construction Labourer, you will play a crucial role in supporting various construction activities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards. We are looking for individuals who are physically fit, possess a strong work ethic, and are committed to maintaining a safe working environment. Whether you bring manual dexterity or specific skills in areas such as masonry, carpentry assistance, or equipment operation, your contribution will be valued. You will work closely with site supervisors, foremen, and other team members, learning and growing within a structured and supportive construction environment. This role requires adherence to strict safety protocols, the ability to work effectively in a team, and a proactive approach to daily tasks. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general manual labor tasks, including digging, lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading materials.
- Assist skilled tradespeople (carpenters, masons, steel benders, electricians) with their daily tasks.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently as directed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work site by removing debris and hazardous materials.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist in the setup and dismantle of temporary structures, scaffolding, and work platforms.
- Mix and pour concrete, mortar, and other construction materials.
- Handle and store materials properly to prevent damage and ensure site efficiency.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and foremen, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to standard.
- Identify and report any potential hazards or unsafe conditions on site immediately.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a construction labourer or in a similar manual role (minimum 1 year).
- Physical strength and stamina to perform demanding tasks.
- Ability to operate basic hand and power tools safely.
- Understanding of construction site safety regulations and procedures.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Basic communication skills to understand instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid trade test certificate in any construction-related skill (e.g., masonry, carpentry, steel bending).
- Previous experience working on large-scale construction projects.
- Ability to understand and interpret basic construction drawings or plans.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
