Job Description
Join Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) Nigeria Limited as a Construction Labourer on our vital temporary housing project in Ogudu, Kosofe. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to contribute physically to community development and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic construction environment. As a key member of our site team, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient progress of building activities, from site preparation to final touches. We are looking for hardworking, reliable, and safety-conscious individuals ready to roll up their sleeves and make a tangible difference. This role is physically demanding and requires a strong commitment to teamwork and adherence to strict safety protocols. You will work alongside skilled tradespeople, learning and contributing to various aspects of construction, fostering a sense of accomplishment as you see projects come to life. Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople such as carpenters, masons, and electricians with various tasks.
- Load, unload, and transport building materials (e.g., bricks, sand, cement, timber) around the construction site.
- Prepare and clean construction sites by removing debris, waste, and hazardous materials.
- Dig trenches, spread gravel, and level earth using hand tools and basic machinery.
- Operate small hand and power tools safely and effectively as directed by supervisors.
- Erect and dismantle temporary structures, scaffolding, and barricades under supervision.
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies diligently.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and report any defects or malfunctions promptly.
- Perform general maintenance and cleaning tasks on the site to ensure a safe and organized workspace.
- Support the overall construction team in achieving project deadlines and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Physical strength and stamina to perform strenuous tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and repeatedly (up to 25kg).
- Basic understanding of construction site safety procedures and protocols.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a strong commitment to attendance.
- Ability to follow verbal instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Team-oriented with a positive work ethic and willingness to collaborate.
- Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to various tasks as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (e.g., 6 months) in a construction or manual labour role.
- Knowledge of basic construction tools and equipment operation.
- Familiarity with common construction terminology.
- Valid first aid certification (an advantage, but not mandatory).
