Coca-Cola, through its esteemed bottling partner, Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC) Ltd, is seeking a meticulous and dedicated Quality Assurance Specialist to join our vibrant team in Amadi-Ama, Port Harcourt. This is a crucial role within our manufacturing operations, where you will be instrumental in upholding the uncompromising quality and safety standards that are synonymous with the Coca-Cola brand. Your day-to-day will involve a comprehensive suite of activities, from conducting rigorous inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods, to meticulous documentation and analysis of quality data. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular quality checks on incoming raw materials, packaging materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to established specifications and procedures.
- Perform sensory evaluations, physical, chemical, and microbiological tests on products and water samples.
- Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and operational prerequisite programs (OPRPs) to ensure compliance with food safety management systems (e.g., FSSC 22000, HACCP).
- Document and report all quality control data, test results, and non-conformances accurately and promptly.
- Investigate quality deviations, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and logistics teams to implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Ensure strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Train and mentor production staff on quality control procedures and food safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in quality assurance or quality control within a manufacturing environment, preferably in food and beverage.
- Strong understanding of food safety principles (HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000).
- Proficiency in conducting physical, chemical, and microbiological tests.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration.
- Proficiency in using quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Industrial Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Certifications in HACCP, Food Safety Management Systems, or Quality Auditing.
- Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
- Familiarity with Nigerian food safety regulations (NAFDAC standards).
- Previous experience in a high-volume production environment.
