Key Responsibilities
- Operate Class 2 vehicles (rigid trucks) safely and efficiently for local and regional deliveries and collections.
- Perform thorough daily vehicle checks, ensuring the truck is roadworthy, clean, and compliant with all safety standards and regulations.
- Secure loads correctly and efficiently to prevent any damage or shifting during transit, adhering to best practices.
- Complete all necessary delivery documentation, including manifests, delivery notes, and digital records, with precision and accuracy.
- Adhere strictly to all road transport regulations, including working time directives, tachograph rules, and company policies.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and collections, consistently representing Hellmann Worldwide Logistics professionally.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with the dispatch team regarding delivery schedules, potential delays, and any issues encountered on route.
- Assist with loading and unloading goods as required, utilizing appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents promptly and according to established company policy and procedures.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 2 (Category C) driving license for Germany.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (CPC) for Germany.
- Minimum 2 years of proven professional driving experience with Class 2 vehicles.
- A clean driving record with no major endorsements or accidents.
- Excellent knowledge of German road traffic laws and driving regulations.
- Strong geographical knowledge of Hamburg and surrounding regions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling, as required for loading/unloading.
- Highly reliable, punctual, and possesses a strong sense of responsibility.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in German (B1 level or higher) to interact with colleagues and customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with various types of freight and complex delivery scenarios.
- Basic technical understanding of commercial vehicles and minor roadside troubleshooting.
- Forklift truck license (e.g., Staplerschein) for warehouse operations.
- ADR certificate for the transport of dangerous goods.
