As a Civil Technician, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our engineering teams across diverse projects, including transportation infrastructure, water resources management, and urban development. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist project engineers in preparing detailed engineering drawings, plans, and specifications for various civil infrastructure projects using advanced CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
  • Perform accurate calculations related to civil engineering projects, including material quantities, earthwork volumes, drainage capacities, grades, and horizontal/vertical alignments.
  • Conduct thorough site visits, topographic surveys, and construction inspections to gather precise data, verify existing site conditions, and meticulously monitor construction progress against design specifications.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, detailed memos, and other essential project documentation, ensuring clarity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, lead engineers, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure all project deadlines, budgetary constraints, and quality objectives are consistently met.
  • Proactively review engineering plans, designs, and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and strict compliance with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain meticulous project files, drawings, and all related documentation in an organized, accessible, and up-to-date manner.
  • Support the design and analytical phases of various civil infrastructure components, such as roadways, storm drainage systems, sanitary sewer networks, utility layouts, and comprehensive site development plans.
  • Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) software to analyze spatial data, create detailed maps, and support data-driven decision-making for project planning and design.

Required Skills

  • Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a closely related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive professional experience as a Civil Technician, Engineering Designer, or a similar role within the civil engineering sector.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation is mandatory.
  • Strong foundational understanding of civil engineering principles, drafting standards, and construction practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret complex engineering plans, intricate schematics, and comprehensive construction documents.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical information clearly.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Valid driver's license and the flexibility to travel to various project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Direct experience with specialized civil design software such as Civil 3D, InRoads, or OpenRoads Designer.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations and permitting processes pertaining to civil engineering projects in Pennsylvania.
  • Proficiency with GIS software applications (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Previous experience working specifically on transportation (roadways, bridges), water resources (stormwater, wastewater), or municipal infrastructure projects.
