Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise daily construction site activities, ensuring strict adherence to project plans, specifications, and timelines.
  • Manage and coordinate on-site personnel, including contractors, subcontractors, and laborers, fostering a productive, disciplined, and safe working environment.
  • Implement and rigorously enforce quality control procedures, conducting regular and detailed inspections to ensure all work meets required engineering and construction standards.
  • Monitor project progress against schedule and budget, identifying potential delays or cost overruns early and proposing effective, proactive solutions.
  • Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications, providing clear and concise guidance to site teams.
  • Prepare comprehensive daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, meticulously documenting site activities, resource utilization, and any encountered issues.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices on site.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project communication and address concerns promptly.
  • Oversee the proper storage, utilization, and maintenance of construction materials and equipment.
  • Conduct necessary site surveys, tests, and measurements to verify work accuracy and quality.
  • Resolve technical problems and propose innovative, practical engineering solutions on-site.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and site staff, fostering their professional growth and technical capabilities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in civil engineering roles, with substantial experience in site supervision and project execution.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project) and AutoCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and safety standards prevalent in Lagos State, Nigeria.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage diverse teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Professional registration with COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria).
  • PMP or other relevant project management certifications.
  • Experience with sustainable building practices and green construction methodologies.
  • Fluency in additional local languages (e.g., Yoruba) is considered a significant advantage.
