Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Engineer with a strong focus on project and construction management to join our growing team in Rumuola, Port Harcourt. This pivotal role requires a professional who can seamlessly bridge engineering design with on-site execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methodologies, and Nigerian building codes. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee civil engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to design specifications, budget, and schedule.
- Prepare, review, and approve technical designs, drawings, specifications, and Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for civil engineering works.
- Conduct site investigations, surveys, and risk assessments to ensure project feasibility and identify potential challenges.
- Supervise on-site construction activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and project plans.
- Liaise effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to facilitate project progression.
- Monitor project progress, prepare detailed progress reports, and implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain timelines.
- Manage project resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel, to optimize efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure all construction works comply with relevant Nigerian building codes, standards, and environmental regulations.
- Participate in tender evaluations, contractor selection, and contract administration processes.
- Conduct quality control inspections, resolve technical issues, and ensure proper documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in civil engineering project and construction management.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and materials.
- Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Excellent project management, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities for effective stakeholder engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations in construction.
- Proven problem-solving capabilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Project Management.
- Professional registration with COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria).
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, bridges, water treatment plants).
- PMP, PRINCE2, or other project management certifications.
- Knowledge of FIDIC conditions of contract and other relevant international standards.
