Job Description

Primrose School of South Tampa is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic Childcare Assistant to join our team of early childhood education professionals. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and educational activities, ensuring adherence to the Balanced Learning® curriculum.
  • Provide direct supervision to children at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being during classroom activities, outdoor play, meal times, and nap times.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom environment, including sanitizing toys and equipment regularly.
  • Support children with personal care routines such as toileting, diapering, handwashing, and feeding, as needed.
  • Observe children's behavior and development, providing feedback to lead teachers and assisting with documentation as required.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues through respectful and clear communication.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to all school policies, state licensing regulations, and health and safety standards.
  • Engage children in various play and learning activities, encouraging social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Assist with classroom transitions and ensure a consistent daily routine for children.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 6 months experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, or educational setting
  • Genuine love for children and a passion for early childhood education
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with children, parents, and staff
  • Patience, flexibility, and a positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 35 lbs, bending, standing, and engaging in active play for extended periods
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or actively pursuing one
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain immediately upon hire)
  • Previous experience in an accredited early learning environment
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese)
