Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief Accountant to join our dynamic finance team at Dashen Bank S.C. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of the bank’s accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our financial records, contributing to strategic financial planning, and ensuring adherence to local and international accounting standards. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all daily accounting operations, including the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset management.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with IFRS and local regulations.
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce accurate and insightful financial reports for management.
- Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard the bank’s assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Manage and mentor a team of junior accountants, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Oversee tax compliance, including preparing and submitting all required tax declarations and reports.
- Participate in budget preparation and financial forecasting activities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Proven knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications, especially advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent.
- Experience within the banking or financial services industry.
- Familiarity with Ethiopian tax laws and regulations.
