Job Description

Chevron Nigeria Limited is urgently seeking an experienced and dynamic Project Manager to join our operations team in the Uyo region. This is a critical role that requires a leader with a proven track record in managing complex oil and gas projects from inception to completion. As a Project Manager, you will be instrumental in overseeing the planning, execution, and closure of high-impact projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. You will be responsible for defining project scope, developing detailed project plans, allocating resources, managing stakeholders, and mitigating risks. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all phases of assigned projects, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, work breakdown structures, resource allocation, cost estimates, and detailed schedules.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and expenditures, ensuring cost control and financial reporting accuracy.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues, developing contingency plans to minimize impact on project objectives.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and community representatives.
  • Oversee procurement and contract management activities related to project execution.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Chevron's safety, environmental, and quality standards, as well as regulatory compliance.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate project teams, promoting a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Prepare and present regular project status reports, updates, and presentations to senior management and key stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within project management processes and tools.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 8 years (96 months) of progressive experience in project management, with a significant portion in the oil and gas industry.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices in the oil and gas sector.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with major capital projects in upstream or midstream oil and gas operations.
  • Familiarity with local Nigerian content requirements and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience working in diverse cultural environments.
  • Change management certification or experience.
