Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and troubleshoot mechanical systems and equipment for oil and gas facilities.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies, including preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new mechanical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, industry codes, and regulatory requirements (e.g., API, ASME).
- Prepare technical specifications, engineering drawings, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (operations, process, electrical, civil) to ensure project success.
- Manage vendors and contractors for equipment procurement, fabrication, and repair.
- Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in mechanical systems' reliability and efficiency.
- Provide technical support and guidance to field personnel and junior engineers.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the oil and gas or heavy industrial sector.
- Strong understanding of rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines) and static equipment (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, piping systems).
- Proficiency in engineering software tools (e.g., CAD, FEA, CMMS).
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and industry best practices in mechanical design and maintenance.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent certification (e.g., COREN in Nigeria).
- Experience with SAP PM or other enterprise asset management systems.
- Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) principles.
- Project management experience, including overseeing external contractors.
- Certifications in specific engineering tools or methodologies (e.g., API Inspector certifications).
