Job Description
We are urgently seeking a dedicated and efficient Cashier – Supermarket Assistant to join our vibrant team at our Alimosho branch. This dual-role position is critical to ensuring smooth daily operations and delivering outstanding customer service. As a Cashier, you will be the face of our store, processing transactions accurately and efficiently, while as a Supermarket Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the store’s appearance, managing stock, and assisting shoppers. This is a dynamic role that requires a proactive approach, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating a positive shopping experience for every customer. You will be instrumental in keeping our shelves stocked, our store tidy, and our customers happy, contributing directly to the efficient flow of business in a fast-paced retail setting. We are looking for someone who thrives in a team environment, can multitask effectively, and is eager to grow with us.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate POS cash register, handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Greet customers warmly, provide excellent customer service, and assist with product inquiries.
- Scan items, bag purchases, and ensure correct pricing for all products.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area and assist with general store cleanliness.
- Stock shelves, rotate products, and ensure all items are neatly displayed and properly priced.
- Assist customers in locating products and provide information on promotions and offers.
- Monitor inventory levels and report discrepancies or low stock to supervisors.
- Handle customer returns and exchanges in accordance with company policy.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures as required.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the store meets operational standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in cash handling and POS system operation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic mathematical skills for calculating transactions and change.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to lift and move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a retail or supermarket environment.
- Familiarity with inventory management procedures.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
