Job Description
Are you meticulously organised, highly numerate, and possess a keen eye for detail? Sainsbury’s is seeking a dedicated Cash Office Clerk to join our store finance team in Kilburn, London. In this crucial full-time role, you will be the backbone of our store’s financial integrity, ensuring all cash handling, reconciliation, and banking procedures are executed flawlessly. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and reconcile all cash received from tills, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
- Prepare daily banking deposits and arrange for secure collection.
- Handle petty cash disbursements and maintain meticulous records.
- Investigate and resolve cash discrepancies promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions within the cash office.
- Assist with preparing financial reports and supporting documentation for audits.
- Ensure strict adherence to company cash handling policies, procedures, and security protocols.
- Process refunds, voids, and other till adjustments as per company guidelines.
- Collaborate with store management and other departments to resolve finance-related queries.
- Monitor and replenish change floats for till operators.
- Contribute to a safe and secure working environment within the cash office.
Required Skills
- Exceptional numeracy skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to handle cash accurately and securely.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Excel.
- High level of integrity and trustworthiness.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A methodical and disciplined approach to work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cash office or similar cash-handling role (e.g., banking, retail finance).
- Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
