Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, while maintaining client dignity and privacy.
  • Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and positioning, utilizing proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
  • Administer medication reminders and assist with basic health monitoring as per care plans.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, laundry, and maintain a clean and safe living environment.
  • Offer companionship and engage clients in stimulating activities, promoting social interaction and mental well-being.
  • Observe and report any changes in client's physical, emotional, or cognitive condition to the nursing staff or supervisor.
  • Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols, company policies, and provincial regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members, clients, and their families.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in a caregiving role (e.g., Personal Care Worker, Home Support Worker, Continuing Care Assistant).
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Personal Care Worker, Home Support Worker, or Continuing Care Assistant (CCA) program.
  • Experience working with individuals with diverse care needs, including dementia, palliative care, or disabilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety guidelines for senior care.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset.
  • Understanding of Canadian cultural nuances related to caregiving.
