Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Service Advisor to join our burgeoning team in Chicago, Illinois. In this pivotal role, you will be the primary point of contact for customers seeking automotive service and repairs. Your main responsibility will be to build trust and rapport with customers, accurately diagnose their vehicle issues through effective listening and communication, and provide clear, comprehensive explanations of recommended services and associated costs. You will act as the crucial link between our customers and our skilled technicians, ensuring a seamless and positive service experience from drop-off to pick-up. Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and courteously, initiating the service process with a positive attitude.
 - Listen attentively to customer concerns and accurately document vehicle symptoms and service requests.
 - Perform preliminary vehicle inspections and road tests (where applicable) to verify customer complaints.
 - Translate technical repair information into easily understandable language for customers.
 - Prepare accurate estimates for parts and labor, clearly explaining all charges and obtaining customer approval.
 - Communicate regularly with customers regarding the status of their vehicle repairs and any unexpected findings.
 - Schedule service appointments and manage the repair workflow efficiently to meet promised delivery times.
 - Coordinate with service technicians to ensure timely completion of work and adherence to quality standards.
 - Handle customer inquiries and resolve concerns professionally and efficiently.
 - Process payments and finalize repair orders, ensuring accuracy in billing.
 - Promote additional services and maintenance plans beneficial to the customer and their vehicle's longevity.
 - Maintain a clean and organized service drive and customer waiting area.
 - Stay updated on automotive technology, service procedures, and manufacturer guidelines.
 
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience as an Automotive Service Advisor or similar customer-facing role in the automotive industry.
 - Strong understanding of automotive systems and repair procedures.
 - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 - Proven ability to explain complex technical information clearly to non-technical individuals.
 - Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
 - Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS) and service scheduling software.
 - Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a dynamic environment.
 - Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
 - High school diploma or equivalent.
 
Preferred Qualifications
- ASE certification (C1 – Service Consultant preferred).
 - Experience with a variety of vehicle makes and models.
 - Associates degree or vocational training in automotive technology.
 - Strong sales and negotiation skills.
 - Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
