Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced On-site Supervisor to oversee critical operations within our new, state-of-the-art logistics facility in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a Canada Post Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in managing daily parcel processing, sorting, and dispatch activities, ensuring seamless workflow and timely delivery within our specialized cross-border logistics framework. You will lead, mentor, and motivate a dedicated team of logistics professionals, fostering a culture of safety, productivity, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily operational activities, including parcel sorting, loading, unloading, and dispatch, ensuring adherence to established schedules and procedures.
- Lead, train, and develop a team of operational staff, fostering a positive, productive, and safe work environment.
- Monitor workflow, allocate resources efficiently, and adjust staffing levels as needed to meet operational demands and service level agreements.
- Implement and enforce strict safety protocols and company policies to ensure a secure working environment for all employees.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback and coaching to team members to support their growth.
- Identify process bottlenecks and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce operational costs, and optimize resource utilization.
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory, and operational metrics, preparing detailed reports for management.
- Troubleshoot operational issues proactively and collaborate with other departments to resolve problems promptly and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal transportation and logistics regulations.
- Participate in the onboarding and training of new team members, ensuring they are integrated smoothly into the team and understand operational procedures.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive supervisory experience in a fast-paced logistics, warehouse, or postal operations environment.
- Proven ability to effectively lead, motivate, and manage a team of diverse individuals.
- Strong understanding of logistics principles, including inventory management, warehousing, and transportation best practices.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and complex problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, high-volume environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Experience with cross-border shipping, customs procedures, and international logistics operations.
- Certification in Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other process improvement methodologies.
- Forklift operator certification and experience with material handling equipment.
- Bilingual proficiency (English and French) is an asset, given our Canadian heritage.
