As a JUTC Bus Driver, you will be responsible for operating our modern fleet of buses on designated routes, encompassing both public transit services and specialized shuttle operations. Your primary mission will be to transport passengers safely, efficiently, and courteously across Greater Portmore and its surrounding areas. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate buses on assigned routes, adhering to strict schedules and traffic regulations.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any mechanical defects or issues promptly.
- Ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers, including assisting those with special needs when required.
- Collect fares, issue tickets, and maintain accurate records as per company policy.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering passenger inquiries and addressing concerns courteously.
- Maintain a clean and tidy bus interior.
- Handle unexpected situations (e.g., traffic delays, emergencies) calmly and professionally.
- Adhere to all JUTC policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and management regarding route conditions, delays, or incidents.
Required Skills
- Valid Public Passenger Vehicle (PPV) Driver's License (Class 4 or above)
- Minimum 2 years of proven professional driving experience (bus, truck, or similar heavy vehicle)
- Clean driving record with no major infractions
- Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and regulations in Jamaica
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Basic mechanical aptitude for routine vehicle checks
- High level of responsibility and reliability
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience driving public transit buses
- Knowledge of Greater Portmore and surrounding St. Catherine/Kingston Metropolitan Area routes
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Defensive driving certification
