Job Description
ABC Transport Plc is currently seeking dedicated and customer-focused individuals to join our team as Bus Conductors for our burgeoning city routes within Port Harcourt, specifically serving the Abonnema Wharf area. As a Bus Conductor, you will be the face of ABC Transport Plc for hundreds of daily commuters, playing a vital role in ensuring a smooth, safe, and pleasant journey for all passengers. Your primary responsibility will involve the collection of fares, issuing tickets, and ensuring accurate cash handling. Beyond this, you will be instrumental in assisting passengers, especially those with special needs, with boarding and alighting, managing luggage, and providing clear, courteous information regarding routes, stops, and general inquiries. You will work closely with our bus drivers to maintain schedule adherence and coordinate safe stops. A keen eye for safety, a friendly disposition, and a strong sense of responsibility are paramount. This role requires individuals who are energetic, possess excellent communication skills, and are ready to contribute to a dynamic team environment focused on delivering superior passenger transport services.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect fares from passengers and issue accurate tickets using designated ticketing equipment.
- Manage cash transactions, ensuring accuracy and accountability for all collected funds.
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting passengers with boarding, seating, and alighting, especially the elderly, pregnant women, or those with disabilities.
- Communicate clearly and courteously with passengers, providing information on routes, stops, and schedules.
- Work collaboratively with the bus driver to ensure safe and timely operation of the bus.
- Monitor passenger behavior to maintain a safe and orderly environment on the bus.
- Assist with loading and unloading passenger luggage and ensuring its secure placement.
- Report any incidents, accidents, or operational issues promptly to the appropriate supervisor.
- Adhere strictly to all company policies, safety regulations, and traffic laws.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness within the bus cabin during shifts.

- Ability to speak local languages or dialects (e.g., Ikwerre, Kalabari) is a plus
