Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management systems and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular environmental inspections, audits, and site assessments to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive environmental reports, permits, and documentation to regulatory agencies.
- Investigate environmental incidents, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions.
- Provide expert environmental guidance and training to operational teams and contractors.
- Monitor key environmental performance indicators and contribute to BP's sustainability reporting.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies, community stakeholders, and internal teams on environmental matters.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in an environmental compliance or specialist role, preferably in the oil & gas or heavy industry sector.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, CT DEEP).
- Proven ability to manage environmental programs and conduct site audits.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in environmental data management and reporting software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Science or Engineering.
- Professional certifications such as CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager) or P.E. (Professional Engineer).
- Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
- Familiarity with air quality permitting and wastewater treatment processes.
