Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer for immediate hiring to join our dynamic team in the Walnut Beach, Milford area. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test electrical systems and components for various operational needs, adhering to industry standards and BP's internal specifications.
- Conduct detailed analysis, fault finding, and troubleshooting of existing electrical infrastructure and equipment to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Manage and oversee electrical aspects of projects from conception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and budget adherence.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for electrical systems to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
- Ensure all electrical installations and operations comply with local, state, federal, and BP safety regulations and codes (e.g., NEC, IEEE, NFPA).
- Prepare technical specifications, reports, and documentation for electrical equipment, systems, and project progress.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including mechanical engineers, operations personnel, and project managers to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in electrical engineering to recommend and implement improvements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and maintenance staff.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 3 years (36 months) of professional experience as an Electrical Engineer, preferably in heavy industrial, oil & gas, or manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM PowerTools).
- Strong understanding of power distribution systems, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and protective relaying.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, API).
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with high-voltage systems and substation design.
- Knowledge of process control systems (DCS, PLC) and instrumentation.
- Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP).
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
