Job Description
We are seeking a diligent, experienced, and highly organised Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our friendly team at Jukes & Co Accountants. This pivotal role involves maintaining accurate financial records for a variety of our clients, ensuring all transactions are correctly classified and recorded, and supporting our accounting professionals with essential data. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial operations, reconciling accounts, and preparing reports that contribute to the overall financial health and compliance of our clients. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients using various accounting software.
- Process purchase and sales invoices, credit notes, and receipts.
- Perform bank reconciliations and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time.
- Process payroll for clients, including managing statutory deductions and submitting PAYE information.
- Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable, ensuring timely collection and payment.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures.
- Generate financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets, for client review.
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal team members regarding financial queries and updates.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and company policies.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Solid organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and prioritise tasks effectively.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- AAT qualification or equivalent.
- Experience working within an accounting practice.
- Familiarity with various industry-specific accounting requirements.
- Knowledge of Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT.
