Job Description

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our dynamic finance team. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the smooth operation of our accounting processes, particularly within accounts payable and general ledger functions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities

  • Process and verify accounts payable invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper coding.
  • Prepare and execute timely payment runs to vendors and service providers.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and journals.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and accruals.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and other balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare various financial reports and summaries for management review.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial data flow.
  • Assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Adhere to all organizational financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in bookkeeping functions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role.
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent data entry skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.

Preferred Qualifications
