Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of aircraft parts, components, assemblies, and systems at various stages of production.
  • Verify conformity of products to engineering drawings, specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA, AS9100).
  • Utilize a wide range of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) where applicable.
  • Conduct in-process, final, first-article, and receiving inspections, meticulously documenting all findings.
  • Identify, document, and report non-conformances, discrepancies, and defects, initiating appropriate corrective action requests.
  • Collaborate effectively with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to investigate root causes of quality issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Review and approve manufacturing work instructions, process plans, and quality control documents.
  • Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
  • Participate in quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma projects.
  • Maintain accurate and organized quality records, ensuring traceability and compliance with record-keeping policies.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Control role within a manufacturing or aerospace environment.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Expertise in using various precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges).
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and document non-conformances accurately and thoroughly.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Quality Management).
  • Certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT).
  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods or certifications.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma).
  • Previous experience inspecting aircraft structures, systems, or complex mechanical assemblies.
