Job Description
Are you a meticulous and innovative Board Designer passionate about bringing electronic concepts to life? Flex’s Łódź Design Center is actively seeking a talented and experienced Board Designer to join our dynamic and growing engineering team immediately. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the full lifecycle of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design, from initial schematic capture and careful component selection through to complex multi-layer layout, precise routing, and preparing comprehensive documentation for manufacturing. Your expertise will be applied across a wide range of cutting-edge products, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability for diverse industries such as automotive, industrial controls, consumer electronics, and advanced telecommunications. We’re looking for an individual with a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of advanced electrical engineering principles, including crucial aspects like signal integrity, power delivery networks, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and proven proficiency in industry-standard PCB design software. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop complex multi-layer Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) from schematic capture to final layout for various electronic products.
- Perform meticulous component placement, high-speed routing, and detailed signal integrity and power integrity analysis in accordance with design specifications, industry standards, and DFM/DFA guidelines.
- Collaborate closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, manufacturing teams, and program managers to ensure design feasibility, optimal performance, and seamless integration.
- Generate comprehensive manufacturing documentation including Gerber files, ODB++, assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, and accurate bill of materials (BOM).
- Conduct thorough design reviews, implement feedback, and iterate on PCB layouts to refine designs and ensure full compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
- Analyze and resolve complex design issues, performing root cause analysis and proposing effective, innovative solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging PCB technologies, materials, manufacturing processes, and industry best practices.
- Support prototyping, testing, and debugging activities, making necessary design revisions and optimizations.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes, toolchains, and methodologies within the engineering department.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (3+ years) in complex multi-layer PCB design and layout for high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal applications.
- Expert proficiency with industry-standard PCB design software such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics PADS/Xpedition.
- Strong understanding of advanced electrical engineering principles, including signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC/EMI considerations.
- In-depth knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret complex schematics, datasheets, and technical specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration within international teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- Experience with flexible PCBs, rigid-flex designs, or high-density interconnect (HDI) technologies.
- Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-2221, IPC-A-600) and other relevant industry certifications.
- Prior experience in the automotive, industrial controls, medical device, or cloud computing sectors.
- Proficiency in Hebrew (עורך/ת מעגלים) is considered a significant asset, facilitating communication with potential international teams or documentation.
