Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive health and safety programs in accordance with BHP standards and regulatory guidelines (OSHA, MSHA, etc.).
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, non-compliance issues, and areas for improvement.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses thoroughly, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on all aspects of occupational health and safety.
- Deliver engaging and effective safety training sessions for new hires and existing personnel on various safety topics, procedures, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety best practices into all operational processes.
- Prepare detailed safety reports and analyses for management, highlighting trends and recommending proactive measures.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) role, preferably in an industrial, mining, or heavy construction environment.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Proven ability to conduct hazard assessments, risk analyses, and incident investigations.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and train diverse groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), ASP (Associate Safety Professional), or OHST (Occupational Health and Safety Technologist).
- Experience with MSHA regulations is a significant advantage.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards.
