Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a wide range of audio equipment, including microphones, mixing consoles, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and recording devices.
  • Conduct field recordings, ensuring optimal sound capture in diverse environments, often collaborating with production crews.
  • Manage live sound for broadcasts, events, and performances, ensuring clear audio and seamless transitions.
  • Perform studio recordings, including voiceovers, interviews, and music sessions, providing technical guidance to talent.
  • Execute audio mixing, editing, and mastering for various content formats (radio, TV, digital), adhering to BBC quality standards.
  • Implement sound design and effects to enhance narrative and emotional impact.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical audio issues promptly to prevent disruption to productions.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, directors, camera operators, and other crew members to achieve desired audio outcomes.
  • Ensure all audio content complies with broadcast standards, legal requirements, and accessibility guidelines.
  • Stay updated with new audio technologies, software, and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with professional audio mixing consoles (digital and analog)
  • Expertise in Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Adobe Audition
  • Strong understanding of acoustics, signal flow, and audio processing techniques
  • Experience with various microphone types and placement techniques
  • Demonstrated ability in live sound mixing and recording environments
