Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Battery Charger to join our dedicated team at our state-of-the-art auto workshop in Amadi Flats, Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt. This crucial role is at the heart of our electrical service department, focusing on ensuring the optimal health and performance of vehicle batteries and associated charging systems across a diverse range of vehicles, from passenger cars to light commercial vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for meticulously diagnosing battery faults, determining the root cause of issues, and then performing precise charging procedures for various types of automotive batteries, including lead-acid, AGM, and gel types, utilizing advanced charging equipment. Furthermore, you will conduct critical tests on alternators, starter motors, and overall vehicle charging systems to confirm their integrity and functionality, ensuring that vehicles operate at peak electrical performance and reliability. You will be expected to accurately operate advanced diagnostic tools, interpret readings, and translate complex technical information into clear insights. Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose vehicle battery issues accurately using specialized testing equipment.
- Perform safe and efficient charging of various types of automotive batteries (lead-acid, AGM, gel) according to manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct comprehensive tests on alternators, starter motors, and vehicle charging systems to ensure optimal functionality.
- Inspect battery cables, terminals, and connections for corrosion, damage, and proper fit.
- Maintain and calibrate battery charging equipment and diagnostic tools regularly.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and guidelines when handling electrical components and hazardous materials.
- Keep detailed and accurate records of all battery services performed, including diagnosis, charging cycles, and parts replaced.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and technicians regarding battery and charging system status.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Stay updated with the latest automotive battery technologies and charging techniques.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Battery Charger or Auto Electrician in an automotive workshop.
