Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a wide array of hot and cold coffee beverages, including espresso, latte, cappuccino, and iced coffees, following established recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other coffee-making equipment, ensuring they are clean and in excellent working condition.
- Provide exceptional customer service, taking orders accurately, engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner, and making personalized recommendations.
- Handle cash and credit card transactions efficiently and accurately using our point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting coffee bar area, adhering to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Monitor and replenish coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies, communicating stock needs to management.
- Educate customers on different coffee types, brewing methods, and menu items to enhance their understanding and enjoyment.
- Assist with other restaurant duties as needed, contributing to a cohesive and supportive team environment.
- Resolve customer complaints and concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Barista or in a similar customer service role within a café or restaurant setting.
- Demonstrable knowledge of coffee preparation techniques, latte art basics, and espresso machine operation.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and outgoing personality.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
- Strong basic math skills for handling transactions and managing inventory.
- A genuine passion for coffee and a desire to learn and grow in the field.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Certification in food handling or coffee preparation.
- Familiarity with various coffee beans, roasts, and flavor profiles.
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems specific to restaurants.
- Knowledge of local Jamaican coffee culture and preferences.
