Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare a wide variety of baked goods, including breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other desserts, according to recipes and production schedules.
  • Accurately measure and mix ingredients, knead, proof, and shape doughs, and prepare batters.
  • Operate and maintain commercial baking equipment, including mixers, ovens, proofers, and fryers.
  • Monitor baking processes, adjust temperatures and timings as needed, and ensure consistent product quality.
  • Decorate and finish baked goods with glazes, icings, and other toppings.
  • Adhere strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized work station.
  • Manage inventory of ingredients, report stock levels, and assist with ordering supplies.
  • Collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely delivery of products.
  • Assist in the development of new recipes and baking techniques to enhance product offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures regarding production and safety.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a baker specializing in both bread and pastry.
  • In-depth knowledge of baking principles, techniques, and ingredient functions.
  • Proficiency in operating commercial baking equipment.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP certification preferred).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow recipes precisely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage time effectively.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy ingredients/equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
