AT&T is seeking a dedicated Field Technician to join our team in Aberdeen, Scotland. In this critical role, you will be the face of AT&T, responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide array of telecommunications equipment and services for our valued business clients. This includes broadband internet, voice services, data networks, and other advanced communication solutions. You will work independently and as part of a team, traveling to various customer locations across the Aberdeen area, ensuring the highest standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction. This position requires strong technical acumen, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in diverse environments. Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and activate AT&T telecommunications equipment and services at customer premises.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to internet, voice, and data services efficiently and effectively.
- Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on existing network infrastructure and customer equipment.
- Conduct thorough testing of installed services to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Provide exceptional customer service, explaining technical details clearly and patiently to non-technical users.
- Document all service calls, installations, and repairs accurately and completely.
- Adhere strictly to all AT&T safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Manage and maintain company-issued tools, equipment, and vehicle.
- Work collaboratively with dispatch, engineering, and customer support teams.
- Stay updated on new technologies, products, and service offerings through continuous learning and training.
Required Skills
- Proven technical aptitude with a strong understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Wi-Fi).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting professionally with business clients.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
- Valid UK driving license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 25kg and work in various physical environments (e.g., climbing ladders, confined spaces).
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Field Technician or similar role in the telecommunications industry.
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA).
- Knowledge of fibre optics and structured cabling standards.
- Experience with various operating systems and diagnostic software.
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Telecommunications, IT, or a related technical field.
