Job Description
Arik Air is seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Operations Officer to join our dedicated team in Ikot Ntuen, Uyo. This critical role is at the heart of our daily flight operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and punctual execution of all flights originating from or transiting through our Uyo hub. The successful candidate will be instrumental in coordinating various operational aspects, including comprehensive flight planning, meticulous crew scheduling, efficient ground handling services, and ensuring strict adherence to all aviation regulations and company policies. You will work closely with pilots, ground staff, air traffic control, and other departmental teams to maintain seamless communication and operational flow. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate daily flight operations, ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements (NCAA, ICAO) and company standards.
- Monitor flight schedules, analyze real-time weather conditions, and interpret NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) to anticipate and mitigate potential operational disruptions.
- Liaise effectively with flight crew, ground staff, air traffic control, and other relevant departments to facilitate smooth and efficient aircraft turnaround processes.
- Prepare and dispatch essential flight documents, including precise flight plans, passenger manifests, and comprehensive weather briefings.
- Manage and coordinate crew duty rosters, ensuring strict compliance with flight time limitations and mandatory rest periods to uphold safety standards.
- Respond proactively to operational irregularities, such as delays, diversions, or cancellations, and implement corrective actions swiftly and effectively.
- Ensure all necessary permits, clearances, and slot allocations are secured promptly for all planned flights.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all operational activities and provide timely, comprehensive reports to management.
- Conduct thorough pre-flight briefings and insightful post-flight debriefings with flight crews.
- Implement and rigorously enforce safety procedures and policies across all operational aspects.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in airline operations, flight dispatch, or air traffic control.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCAA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in flight planning software and other operational systems.
- Ability to work effectively and remain composed under pressure, making critical decisions swiftly.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Computer literacy, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Logistics, Transport Management, or a related field.
- Valid Flight Dispatcher license or certification.
- Previous experience with an international airline or a large domestic carrier.
- Familiarity with Uyo Victor Attah International Airport (AKV) operations.
- Knowledge of an additional Nigerian local language.
