Job Description

This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe handling of aircraft, passengers, and baggage on the ground. As a member of our Ground Operations team, you will be the backbone of our airport services, directly impacting our passengers’ experience and the punctuality of our flights. Your day will be dynamic and varied, involving everything from guiding aircraft on the tarmac to assisting passengers with their luggage, ensuring safety protocols are meticulously followed, and maintaining a high standard of service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist passengers with baggage handling, check-in, and boarding procedures.
  • Load and unload passenger luggage and cargo from aircraft, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Guide aircraft to and from parking stands using appropriate hand signals and communication.
  • Operate various ground support equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., baggage carts, pushback tractors).
  • Perform routine aircraft exterior cleaning and cabin tidiness checks between flights.
  • Conduct pre-flight and post-flight checks of the tarmac and surrounding areas for debris.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all aviation safety regulations, company policies, and security procedures.
  • Provide clear and helpful information to passengers, resolving inquiries or directing them to appropriate departments.
  • Collaborate effectively with pilots, cabin crew, air traffic control, and other ground personnel.
  • Report any anomalies, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (SSCE/GCE/NECO).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer service or physically demanding role.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and security protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in the aviation industry or a similar ground operations role.
  • First Aid and basic emergency response training.
  • Proficiency in additional Nigerian languages.
  • Valid driver's license with experience operating heavy equipment.
