Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Architect with a strong background in planning and detailed drawing to join our dynamic team in Mandeville. This pivotal role will see you instrumental in the design and development phases of various projects, ranging from residential and commercial structures to public infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for transforming conceptual ideas into functional, aesthetically pleasing, and code-compliant designs. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and contractors to ensure design integrity from inception to completion. This role requires an individual who is not only proficient in architectural software and drafting techniques but also possesses a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of construction principles, and the ability to articulate design concepts effectively. You will be expected to produce comprehensive architectural drawings, specifications, and documentation that adhere to local building codes and international standards. Your expertise will be crucial in the planning stages, including site analysis, feasibility studies, and conceptual design, through to the development of detailed construction drawings. Key Responsibilities
- Develop architectural designs from concept to detailed construction drawings.
- Prepare and present design proposals, working drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Conduct site analyses and feasibility studies to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams, clients, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant Jamaican building codes, zoning regulations, and industry standards.
- Manage and coordinate drawing production using CAD and BIM software.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and project coordination sessions.
- Review and approve shop drawings and submittals from contractors and suppliers.
- Provide technical guidance and support during construction phases, including site visits and problem-solving.
- Stay abreast of new building materials, construction techniques, and sustainable design practices.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
- Strong understanding of architectural design principles and building systems.
- Excellent knowledge of Jamaican building codes and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to produce detailed architectural drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Problem-solving aptitude and strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Architecture or a related field.
- Professional registration with the Architects Registration Board of Jamaica (ARBJ).
- Experience with BIM methodologies and software (e.g., ArchiCAD).
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
- LEED Green Associate or Accredited Professional certification.
- Experience in sustainable design and construction practices.
