Key Responsibilities
- Diligently research and identify emerging artists, producers, and songwriters across various digital platforms (streaming services, social media, independent blogs, online communities) and traditional avenues.
- Actively attend local showcases, open mics, concerts, and industry events to scout new talent and build a network within the Minneapolis music scene.
- Assist the A&R team in the thorough evaluation of demo submissions, providing insightful initial feedback and detailed reports.
- Maintain and meticulously organize comprehensive artist databases, contact lists, and demo logs to ensure efficient tracking.
- Conduct in-depth competitive analysis and market research on prevailing music trends, genre shifts, and the evolving artist landscape.
- Provide essential administrative support for A&R projects, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and compiling detailed reports.
- Collaborate effectively with other internal departments (Marketing, Production, Legal) on various artist-related initiatives and campaigns.
- Contribute fresh and innovative creative ideas for artist development strategies, branding, and promotional efforts.
- Prepare compelling materials for A&R meetings, artist presentations, and internal stakeholder discussions.
- Stay continuously informed about industry news, technological advancements, and changes in music consumption patterns and distribution models.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program (preferably in Music Business, Communications, Marketing, Arts Administration, or a closely related field).
- Demonstrated strong passion for music, particularly hip-hop culture and its diverse subgenres, coupled with a comprehensive knowledge of current artists, producers, and industry trends.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly and persuasively.
- Outstanding organizational skills and an unwavering attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Proven ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as an integral part of a dynamic team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and general computer literacy.
