Horton Records is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented A&R Assistant to join our close-knit team in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Key Responsibilities
- Actively scout and identify emerging country and roots music artists through live performances, online platforms, and industry networks.
- Manage and organize demo submissions, providing initial screening and detailed feedback.
- Assist in the coordination and scheduling of recording sessions, mixing, and mastering processes.
- Maintain comprehensive artist databases, tracking project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Conduct research on musical trends, competitor releases, and potential collaboration opportunities.
- Prepare reports and presentations on prospective artists and project developments for the A&R team.
- Support artists with administrative needs, including travel arrangements and scheduling.
- Attend live showcases, industry events, and concerts to discover talent and network.
- Collaborate with marketing, publicity, and distribution teams to ensure cohesive project rollouts.
- Assist in contract preparation and negotiation support for new artist signings.
Required Skills
- Proven passion and in-depth knowledge of country, Americana, and roots music genres.
- Excellent organizational and administrative skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Basic understanding of music production processes and terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Music Business, Entertainment Management, or a related field.
