Job Description

Airbnb is seeking a talented Product Designer to join our innovative team in Downtown, Cedar Falls. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and refining features across our platform, impacting millions of users globally. You will take ownership of the full design lifecycle, from initial user research and ideation to crafting pixel-perfect mockups and interactive prototypes. Working within a collaborative, cross-functional team, you’ll partner closely with product managers, engineers, and researchers to transform complex challenges into elegant, intuitive, and delightful user experiences. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design process for core product features, from discovery and problem definition to execution and iteration.
- Conduct thorough user research, usability testing, and data analysis to inform design decisions and validate hypotheses.
- Translate complex user needs and business requirements into clear, intuitive user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
- Create high-fidelity mockups and specifications that adhere to and evolve Airbnb's design system.
- Collaborate seamlessly with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure design feasibility and successful implementation.
- Champion user-centered design principles and best practices throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
- Present design solutions and articulate design rationale effectively to various internal teams and senior leadership.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our design processes, tools, and overall design culture.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of professional experience in Product Design, UX Design, or a closely related field.
- An exceptional online portfolio showcasing a strong understanding of UX/UI principles, visual design excellence, and a clear design process.
- Proficiency with industry-standard design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Demonstrated ability to tackle complex design problems and deliver innovative, user-friendly solutions.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions clearly.
- Experience working in an agile development environment with cross-functional teams.
- Solid understanding of mobile-first design and responsive web design principles.
- A passion for creating delightful and impactful user experiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, or a related discipline.
- Experience designing for large-scale consumer-facing products, particularly within the travel, hospitality, or e-commerce sectors.
- Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and tools.
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to facilitate effective collaboration with engineers.
- Experience contributing to or maintaining a robust design system.
