Job Description

Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading airline, is actively seeking a dedicated and meticulous Flight Dispatcher to join our vibrant team at our operational base near the Abak Road Flyover in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. As a Flight Dispatcher at Air Peace, you will be a critical part of our flight operations, sharing joint responsibility with the Captain for the operational control of flights. Your expertise will be instrumental in planning and releasing flights, taking into account a myriad of factors including weather conditions, aircraft performance, fuel requirements, air traffic control restrictions, and applicable aviation regulations (NCAA, ICAO). You will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring quick decision-making, excellent communication skills, and an unwavering commitment to safety.
This role involves comprehensive pre-flight planning, continuous in-flight monitoring, and proactive coordination with flight crews, maintenance personnel, and air traffic control. You will be responsible for preparing detailed flight plans, analyzing meteorological data, evaluating Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs), and ensuring that all necessary information is conveyed effectively to the flight deck crew. Furthermore, you will monitor flights in progress, assessing any deviations from the planned route or schedule and providing timely updates and alternative solutions to ensure the safety and efficiency of the flight.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, sign, and issue flight releases and flight plans jointly with the Pilot-in-Command, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company procedures.
- Analyze and evaluate meteorological conditions, NOTAMs, aircraft performance data, and other operational information to determine optimal and safe flight paths.
- Calculate aircraft fuel requirements, considering factors such as payload, weather, alternate airports, and regulatory minimums.
- Monitor the progress of flights, tracking aircraft position, weather, and NOTAMs, and providing necessary updates and support to flight crews.
- Advise the Pilot-in-Command of any conditions that may affect the safety or efficiency of flights during pre-flight preparation and in-flight operations.
- Develop and implement contingency plans for irregular operations, emergencies, or unforeseen events, coordinating with relevant departments.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all flight-related activities and communications.
- Communicate effectively with flight crews, maintenance, ground operations, and air traffic control personnel.
- Stay current with all applicable aviation regulations, company policies, and best practices.
- Participate in safety management system (SMS) initiatives and contribute to a proactive safety culture.
Required Skills
- Valid NCAA/ICAO Flight Dispatcher License.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Flight Dispatcher in an airline operational control center.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations (NCARs) and ICAO standards.
- Proficiency in flight planning software, weather analysis tools, and NOTAM interpretation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with excellent decision-making skills under pressure.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, 24/7 operational environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Meteorology, or a related field.
- Experience with ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operational Performance Standards) operations.
- Familiarity with specific airline operational software systems.
- Advanced training or certifications in aviation safety or risk management.
