Job Description

Notore Chemical Industries Plc is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic team as an Agronomist – Crop/Research in D-Line, Port Harcourt. Key Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and manage comprehensive field trials and research projects focused on crop optimization, soil fertility, and plant nutrition.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret agronomic data using statistical software to derive actionable insights and recommendations.
- Develop and implement integrated crop management strategies, including effective nutrient management, pest and disease control, and weed management programs.
- Conduct thorough soil and plant tissue analysis, providing tailored recommendations for soil amendments and optimal fertilizer application.
- Provide expert technical support and agronomic advice to farmers, extension officers, and internal teams on best farming practices.
- Monitor crop health, identify deficiencies, and proactively propose corrective measures to mitigate risks and enhance yield.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in agricultural science and technology, integrating new findings into research and practical applications.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and technical documentation on research findings and all field activities.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful planning and implementation of agricultural programs and initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of engaging training materials and conduct workshops for farmers and various agricultural stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in agronomy, crop science, or a closely related agricultural field.
- Strong foundational understanding of soil science, plant nutrition, crop physiology, and integrated pest management.
- Proficiency in designing and conducting scientific field trials and experiments.
- Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills, including familiarity with statistical software.
- Ability to effectively translate complex scientific information into practical, actionable advice for diverse audiences.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude and a proactive, hands-on approach to agricultural challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and presentations.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel frequently to rural farm locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
- Extensive experience with specific crops prevalent in Nigeria, suchs as maize, cassava, rice, oil palm, or cocoa.
- Knowledge of modern precision agriculture technologies and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Prior experience working directly with smallholder farmers and agricultural cooperatives.
- Professional certification in agronomy or a recognized related agricultural field.
