Job Description

Burnbrae Farms is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Full-time Accountant to join our dynamic team in Calgary, Alberta. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day accounting activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights on financial performance.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS), and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather financial data and provide accounting support.
  • Participate in audit preparation and provide necessary documentation to external auditors.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Handle ad-hoc financial projects and reports as required by management.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of progressive experience in an accounting role.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, advanced formulas).
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pursuing or holding a CPA designation (CPA Canada).
  • Experience within the manufacturing or agricultural industry.
  • Familiarity with intercompany transactions and multi-entity accounting.
