Job Description

Valio is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Full-Time Quality Control Associate to join our dedicated team in Helsinki, Finland. In this dynamic role, you will work closely with various departments, including production, R&D, and supply chain, to identify potential quality risks and implement proactive measures. Your daily tasks will involve performing a variety of physical, chemical, and microbiological tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using established laboratory procedures and equipment. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and calibration of testing instruments, maintaining detailed records of all quality checks, and promptly reporting any deviations or non-conformances to management. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine quality checks and inspections on raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products.
  • Conduct physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses using laboratory equipment and established procedures.
  • Document all quality control activities, test results, and non-conformances accurately and timely.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to Valio's quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., HACCP, ISO).
  • Identify, investigate, and report any quality deviations or issues, participating in root cause analysis.
  • Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper functioning and accuracy.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with production, R&D, and other departments to uphold overall product quality and safety.
  • Participate in internal audits and support external audits as required.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Proficiency in laboratory testing techniques and equipment operation.
  • Solid understanding of quality control principles and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in using basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) for data entry and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or vocational qualification in Food Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance role, preferably within the food and beverage industry.
  • Familiarity with Finnish food safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) software.
  • Ability to communicate in Finnish.
